I have to explain first .
I have a very racially diverse family and that is not the issue . I am not uncultured and i enjoy my latino community in south florida .
The last straw was about our only rock station in south florida (broward) .
The station was taken off and replaced by a spanish station . We already have 3 spanish stations . The big companies are cashing in on latinos . What bothers me most is how it got this way and how they are even selling this .
In usa (especially states closer to the south) there is this attitude some latinos have about english speaking americans and how they feel we must speak spanish .
To pass highschool we now have to take spanish (french if youe lucky to get in) . We are called ignorrant for not wanting to speak spanish in an english speaking country .
I have not run into any problems with germans , asians etc. with this but i have had some major issues with lations on this . Other cultures come to usa and try to learn the lang. , they dont get upset at us for not speaking their lang. and they are not taking radio stations by companies selling in on their disrespect .
Usa is the boiling pot but we need an officical lang. and the majority is english .
Please sign the petitiion . This is a serious issue and i am now concerned when things americans have come to enjoy are being taken away from them .
When youre in another person country , Please be respectful to them and not force your lang. on them .
I couldn't imagine going to germany or japan and forcing english on them .
If this is the case in other countries , make a stand and have it stopped .

ProEnglish urges all its members and supporters to join us in a nationwide boycott of Miami. The boycott was prompted by the firing of Ms. Zita Wilensky, whose sixteen-year career with Miami-Dade County was abriptly terminated because she did not speak Spanish.
Ms. Wilensky alleges that as her office's only non-Hispanic employee, she was routinely harassed and discriminated against because of her ethnic background. She says her supervisor singled her out for demeaning pranks in front of her whole office, including one case in which she was told to sniff a white powder-filled envelope at the height of the Anthrax scare. Other employees would exclude her from their Spanish-only conversations and often addressed her only as "gringa" or "Americana." Finally, her supervisor told her that she had to learn Spanish in 60 days or she would lose her job. After 30 days, she was abruptly fired.
ProEnglish has sent letters to Miami Mayor Alex Penelas, Miami-Dade County Manager Steve Shrier and Mr. William O. Collum, President of the Miami Chamber of Commerce, explaining the reason for our boycott. We urge our members to also write to these peoples, and continue the boycott until Ms. Wilensly is rehired and compensated.
